Other Activities

In addition to providing opportunities for our youth to participate in county youth sports programs and summer camps, the Beekmantown Youth Commission also offers other activities throughout the year. While not all activities are offered each year, at left, you will find a list of the ones we have offered in the past few years.

Bowling

During the December-January and February breaks, the commission tries to offer an afternoon free bowling to children who live in Beekmantown. Guest and adults are also welcome, but are asked to pay for their games.

Halloween

Each Halloween, the commission purchases a block of tickets to the "Haunted House" put on by local Firehouses. Tickets are made available free to all children of the town, on a first come basis.

Also at this time, the commission coordinates several dates at Country Dreams Farms, 260 Pellerin Road, Plattsburgh, NY, for FUN FILLED ACTIVITIES including Corn Maze, Petting Zoo, Wagon Rides, Take Home a Free Pumpkin.  Tickets MUST be picked up at the Town Hall.

Ice Skating

Usually in February, around Valentine's Day or near the February school break, the commission tries to host an afternoon or evening of ice skating at the town hall's outdoor rink. A bon fire and music provides great atmosphere on a cold day or evening. Hot chocolate, other beverages, and snacks are available.

Skiing

During the winter months, the commission tries to host at least one Family Ski Night at Beartown Ski Area in Beekmantown. Admission is free for all Beekmantown youth and rentals are available at a local ski shop.

In addition, the commission usually hosts a day trip to Titus Mountain in Malone. A bus is provided for the trip and lift tickets can be purchase din adavanced, with rentals available at the mountain.

Swimming

The program is available only to town residents and will run for 5 weeks, three days a week (M-W-F). The bus will transport swimmers from the town hall to the YMCA and back. Bus leaves town hall at 2:30 PM and returns at 4:45 PM. Participants must be at least 5 years old and have completed kindergarten.
